We were Relocated to Boise by Micron Technology and referred to Team Boise. Micron requested that we delay purchase of a home for 3 months to insure my new positoin would be firm wiht the corporation.
We met Dale Alverson and were promptly given a thorough tour of the Boise Area, as well as the pros and cons of the different locations. At this time we were offered Buyer Representation where we would be represented instead of the seller. This was a 1st for us, but we felt with Dale's experience that it was definitely in our best interest.
Mr. Alverson provided us with access to Temporary housing in a nice fully furnished upscale home in Pier Pointe near the River and Greenbelt.
Three months later Micron gave us the approval to purchase and we contacted Mr. Alverson to advise that we had found a home in Pier Pointe Subdivision close to our rental, and that we wanted to make an offer to purchase. Much to our surprise, Mr. Alverson examined our intended purchase and counseled us that while he felt the quality of the home to be excellent, that he was concerned about the location and floorplan and could not recommend the purchase as a good resale investment. We dismised the property and Mr. Alverson showed us another home similar in size and price in a better location in the same subdivision with an excellent floor plan. We purchased this home and were extremely pleased with the purchase.
One year later I was offered a promotion and a Relocation out of country. We called Mr. Alverson and asked if he would list our home. Mr. Alverson explained that he was an exclusive Buyer's agent and did not list homes, however he referred us to to his wife and Team Boise Partner "Debbie Sargent Coe" who promptly listed our home and provided Home Staging to enhance our home's resale value. The home was put on the market and we accepted an offer three days later that provided us a profit of $30,000 for one year of ownership!
To further illustrate the difference of Mr. Alverson's representation, it is interesting that the original home that we asked to make an offer on that Mr. Alverson could not recommend, had been put back on the market at only $2,000. more than the original price a year earlier, and had been on the market for 3 months prior to our home being listed, and was still not sold!
Had we not been represented by Mr. Alverson as a Buyer Broker we would have lost more than $30,000 over our innocent improper decision.
